about me

Hi everyone! Thank you for checking out my website. My name is Dorina and welcome to Dorlicious (a portmanteau of Dorina and delicious). I’m a 28-year-old Florida State University alumna (Class of 2017! Go Noles!). When I’m not cooking, you can find me playing with my rescue chihuahua, crocheting, reading or working (I work a pretty demanding 9 to 5, which explains my spurts of inactivity). I love to travel, especially to new places (and getting a commemorative magnet and Starbucks mug), and have a huge interest in public transportation and bridges. I am currently residing in the nation’s capital: Washington, DC.

I started cooking when I moved into my first apartment in college and have come a long way since (and when I say a long way I mean I’ve moved past microwaveable rice and Italian dressing marinated chicken breast). I am especially thankful for my mom who helped teach me a lot of the basics, and is still fielding any question I might have for her or listening when I want to bounce an idea off of her. Since I first began cooking, I have always had an immense passion for it. It is truly my favorite hobby. I could spend hours watching cooking tutorials, reading up on new cooking methods or recipes, or even researching the latest kitchen gadget. Don’t get me started talking about cooking or you might get stuck in a long conversation (especially if you’re talking about salted versus unsalted butter)! One of my absolute favorite things is that I am constantly trying new recipes. I am not one to make the same thing over and over unless it is a star! There is nothing more satisfying to me than making something for the first time and pulling it off. The happiness you feel when something you made turned out amazing and tastes better than you could’ve expected… I can’t even describe it (for added pleasure, factor in making it for someone you really care about)! I love deciding I want to make something for the very first time and dedicating the time to research it thoroughly before finally determining how I am going to approach it.

I enjoy finding and creating new recipes, and making as much as I can from scratch. When I graduated and entered into the workforce, my relationship with cooking has changed. I still loved to cook elaborate meals, but also paid more mind to making recipes that are quick and easy, but still creative and bursting with flavor. I of course love to cook meals where I’ve made absolutely everything from scratch, and often do, but I have a lot of appreciation for things that can help save time now as well. I am also a huge fan of batch cooking! I think cooking is all about striking the perfect balance—sometimes you need something fast, and sometimes you want an all day, or even multiple day project. I created this website to share things with you, because cooking brings me so much joy. Whether it’s a recipe that I created myself, or a recipe I followed that was absolutely delicious, I want you to know about it!
