Espresso Martini

I am happy to share that I have become a brand ambassador for Compass Coffee here in DC. I am excited about this partnership because I LOVE their coffee! They are my favorite coffee shop to stop by in DC, but even more, I love making coffee at home with their beans. I bought an espresso machine about a year and a half ago, and after trying a few different espresso brands, I landed on theirs. It was my favorite, and being local was a plus. Now, I make a latte every morning using their Emblem Espresso! I order the 2 lb bag online and it lasts me a few months. I prefer making my coffee at home now (and I am saying this as a recovered Starbucks addict). I love it so much that I brought a reusable silicone bag of their beans with me on a recent trip to FloridaI couldn’t go without it! I made it for my little brother for work in the morning and even he loved it (especially the caffeine boost). This is a brand I actually use and enjoy every single day, so it brings me great pleasure to share that you can receive 20% off your first order using the code D0RINA (that’s D zero R I N A), or by shopping using my link: www.compasscoffee.com/d0rina! I feel honored to have been chosen as an ambassador, and I know you will enjoy their coffee just as much as I do. They even offer their coffee in the form of K-Cups & Original Nespresso pods, bulk bags, and cold brew!! As mentioned, my favorite bean is the Emblem Espresso, but the Cherry Blossom blend is also amazing. I especially love the tin that it comes in (such a cute little DC keepsake design).

With that being said, why not celebrate with an espresso martini?! Order their Emblem Espresso to make this drink at home!

Ingredients:
  • Special equipment: cocktail shaker (or jar with lid), ice
  • 1.5 oz vodka
  • 1 oz coffee liqueur (I use Kahlúa)
  • 0.5 to 1 oz simple syrup, depending on how sweet you’d like the drink to be
  • 1 oz espresso
  • Ground or whole espresso beans, for topping
Directions:
  1. Prepare your espresso, then allow it to chill in the fridge or freeze. Alternatively, you can purchase pre-made espresso or concentrated coffee.
  2. To the cocktail shaker, add lots of ice, vodka, coffee liqueur, simple syrup, and chilled espresso.
  3. Aggressively (i.e., extra hard and with a lot of force) shake the cocktail shaker, making sure the lid is on securely, for roughly 1 to 2 minutes, or until everything is well chilled and frothy. Shaking is necessary to aerate the cocktail and create a nice foam on the top of your drink! I like to wrap my shaker in a kitchen towel to keep my hands from getting cold and shake until I can’t shake no more!
  4. Strain a chilled cocktail glass (pictured is a coupe glass).
  5. Top with espresso grounds or whole beans.
  6. Enjoy!
